2002 Harley Davidson® Night-train

|
29 September 2008
My journey with Chopperworks commenced back in October 2006 when I was told about them by a friend as I was looking for a 2006 rear end for my 2002 Night Train. I gave them a call and got a blunt to the point reception “CHOPPERWORKS” ahhh ahhh what have I got here? I thought - “I’ve been told you may be able to help with some bits I’ve been lookin’ for” – “Yep what are ya after mate” was the answer “I’m after a 06 softail ass end” – “Yeh mate I can get ya one of them” - “can ya fit it for me” – “Yep” was the reply - “is the price gonna be right for parts and the labour” – “Yep we’ll see ya right”. I checked, and yes the price was good so I took the chance on the workmanship and handed over my pride and joy for the work to be done.
When I arrived to pick up my ride the workmanship was right on the money with the price being exactly as agreed. Some 25,000k’s later one National HOG rally and a number of long trips and some short ones up and down the East Coast under our belt - not one problem.
Since the journey started with Chopperworks I have had a good relationship with all that work there they have allowed me to make the decisions about what was done to the Night Train with expert guidance, knowledge, experience and a willingness to help achieve what I wanted, we together have achieved what I believe to be a great looking and bullet proof bike (well you know the story, they’re only ever 95% complete) that I could climb onto and ride to Perth when I feel the need.
I know now from having developed a solid relationship with Jeff, Samantha, Nathan, Alf and Amanda all good people and willing to help. I don’t have to pay Harley prices and don’t have to worry about my modified bike falling apart at full noise out the back of Burke somewhere and when I do pull into the next pub I’m going to pull up looking pretty dam good on a tuff looking bike.
The journey thus far with Chopperworks has been a good one, I have been back a number of times not just to discuss what the next steps would be but to have more work done as these guys and gals know what their about and have helped to make the right choice first time round without redoing something that you have spent your hard earned money on. Other work I have had done at Chopper Works since the journey began are things like:
- Supply and fit inverted front forks
- Supply and fit single seat
- Manufacture handle bars and paint
- Repaint the whole bike (HOG Rallies & Ridin’ hard takes its toll)
- New cams and some other engine work
- Supply and fit front headlight, indicators front and rear
The list goes on and is set to go on a little further yet, the Night Train now has a brother a 2008 Ultra it’s already been to Chopper Works to be lowered and a few other bits and pieces however it is no where near the 95% completed.
So I’m only too happy for the journey to continue – the Night Train, Ultra, me and Chopperworks.
And who knows that Ol School project (that will make a great sister for the two brothers) that I’ve been dreamin’ about for awhile, when I’m ready, I’ll be heading to Chopperworks for their assistance to help with achieving my next dream – yet again.
